Space for Grace

People often ask, “What exactly do you do on a Space for Grace day?” Of course, the obvious answer is, “We pray”. “But what does that look like, and is it my cup of tea?” is probably the question that most people are asking.

On Space for Grace days the main focus is on providing a space for everyone to engage with and learn about prayer, because prayer is not a fixed thing. It is always changing, just as any relationship changes.

So, perhaps it is easier to describe what Space for Grace isn’t. It’s not about a bunch of people sitting around in a circle praying out loud. It’s not about embarrassing people by putting people in awkward situations or expecting people to do things or say things that might create an uncomfortable space.

Space for Grace days leave lots of “space” for participants to engage at their own pace in the various aspects of prayer that are explored on the day. There is no pressure ‘to do something.’ There is simply a space, in this case the beautiful surrounds of Good Shepherd Witta, to be with the encouraging support of God’s people and in this case explore aspects of prayer walking. Prayer walking either the Labyrinth, or if that doesn’t excite you, walking the beautiful surrounds or contemplating in the chapel or just sitting under a tree.

The venue is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 295 Witta Road, Witta. Registrations open at 9:30am, with a 10:00am start. If you leave early enough, you might want to grab breakfast or a coffee at Maleny on the way through to Witta. Pastor Tim Jarrick will be leading the day. He is an experienced facilitator of the Labyrinth walk. Bring some lunch to enjoy together as our concluding experience, finishing around 1:00pm.
